GDRFA Self-service visa application and payment kiosks

Visa applicants of Dubai can now apply for a visa and pay for the related fees at the self-service visa application and payment kiosks in minutes.

Prior to the project, foreigners were limited to ten downtown branch offices of GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs), a division of United Arab Emirates Ministry of Internal Affairs to apply for work permits. The amount of work sometimes extended the application and evaluation period up to fifteen days. Aside from a prolonged wait, the applicant’s passport was kept by GDRFA, leaving almost no chance for any commercial initiative. GDRFA solved the problem with an exclusive visa application and payment kiosk solution from Kiosk Innova.

How does the visa application and payment kiosk work?

The visa application and payment kiosks were developed to deliver a one-stop solution for GDRFA: The applicant can file, inquire the result of his / her application and pay for the related fees on the same visa application and payment kiosk. The visa application and payment kiosk captures applicants’ photographs, scans their passports and fingerprints along with biometric data to render all identity information. Visa fees and other charges are collected through the cash or credit card acceptors on the self-service kiosk. Upon completion, all official documentation is printed out at the visa application and payment kiosk securely.

Applicants can conduct their inquiry through the same kiosk. If the application is approved, the self-service visa application and payment kiosk prints out a ticket with a visa confirmation code, and the applicant can submit the code to any GDRFA office to obtain the visa – without having to wait in line.
