Success Stories:
Universiade Kiosk and Digital
Signage Solutions
Overview
One of the most important international sporting events in the world, bringing together different events in a single cultural and sports festival, the 25th Universiade Winter Games was hosted in 2011 by the city of Erzurum, one of the most popular destination for winter sports in Turkey.
Challenge
Universiade 2011, which hosted journalists, athletes and visitors from all around the globe used LED screens to maintain the flow of information and a system was developed to monitor and manage all aspects of the organisation.
Kiosk Innova Solution
In order to keep information flowing, over 300 kiosks, Digital Signage equipment and LED screens were placed at several locations in an area of 500m2 all around the city. The game management system, developed exclusively for the event, managed the onsite scoring and timing and delivered the information to the screens around the site.
Result
Throughout the games all scoring, events information and announcements were displayed at interactive kiosks with LCD and LED screens placed at different locations all around the city. The games were shown live on LED screens spread around a 500m2 area. Live content was streamed from ten different locations and distributed to eighteen LED screens in hotels and restaurants involved in the event. Aside from this, the same Game Management System also managed the information flow from transport and accommodation services and personal activity planners for the athletes and officials.
Another vital aspect of the project was the onsite scoring and timing system. This system provided accurate information on athletes’ speed, and the height and length in jumping events. All this information was computed live and broadcast in real time.
