Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) Self-Service Payment Kiosk


The kiosks of ASKİ, produced by Kiosk Innova solution, offer 24/7 self-service water card filling. Payment kiosks created by Kiosk Innova for ASKI was awarded the best European e-government project award in the UK.

 

Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) wanted to produce permanent solutions to sustain water and sewage services to inspire the municipalities of the world. In this context, the institution, adding another successful project that meet the infrastructure needs of Ankara in the highest possible quality, decided to use Kiosk Innova products which provided water purchasing services to smart card users 24/7.

As a result of the cooperation between Kiosk Innova and ASKI teams, kiosks were designed to provide 24/7 access to users who want to buy water during and outside office hours using their smart cards. These kiosks, which are integrated into the existing system of ASKI, offer water card filling service to the users without time and day limitation as self-service. ASKI kiosks minimized the queues and increased customer satisfaction.

Since 1997, ASKİ has been developing the Electronic Smart Water Meter system. With this system, the institution has achieved successful results in terms of payment collection and gained progress especially in the prevention of illegal use. The subscribers bought the water in credits from the ASKI desks and uploaded the credits on their water meters. The electronic water meter warns the subscriber when the amount they have purchased is about to expire, and if the subscriber did not upload more credits, the water meter would cut off the water. However, since credit uploads could only be made from ASKI desks, this resulted in both long queues and a problem for the ASKI employees. ASKI needed to reduce the burden of the cashiers, as well as enable easy water credit purchase outside the working hours.

ASKI subscribers, who buy water using smart cards and electronic smart water meters, can now load credit on their smart cards with Askimatik without limitation of working hours. With specially developed user screens, subscribers can perform their operations in less than 1 minute. 15% of the transactions are realized between 24:00 and 08:00. ASKI kiosks minimized the queues at the desks and increased customer satisfaction.
