Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD), the government body that arranges the work and residence rights of foreigners living within the borders of Dubai, has made an agreement with the leading kiosk producer Kiosk Innova in order to eliminate application delays.

Within the scope of this project, foreigners who want to work in Dubai will be able to send their applications to DNRD in only a few minutes through the self-service visa application devices to be produced by Kiosk Innova. At Dubai, the most significant center of commerce and tourism in the Middle East, foreigners constitute 85% of the population. The number of foreigners who work and acquire residence permits in Dubai is in a rapid increase with tens of thousands of applications every year.

15 days procedure to be completed in 5 minutes

Foreigners wanting to be employed in Dubai have to apply to one of the 10 branches of DNRD under the United Arab Emirates Internal Affairs Ministry. However, the application and evaluation period can take up to 15 days. Even in express applications, this period can be reduced to a minimum period of 2 days. In the meantime, the applicant's passport has to be kept by the institution.

To minimize this processing time, DNRD is putting self-service visa application points into operation. Advanced technological components such as finger print readers, passport scanners, ticket printers, valuable paper printers, credit card and cash units are available in the kiosk devices. The first batch of devices which manufactured at production facilities in Turkey, were exhibited for the first time at the DNRD stand in GITEX.

Special Security Measures

The self-service devices developed by Kiosk Innova will take the picture of the applicant requesting residence or work visa and it will record identity information along with the biometric data by scanning the finger prints and reading the passport. The visa fee will be transferred immediately to DNRD accounts through the cash or credit card unit on the kiosks. The documents required in print are printed by the kiosk after the completion of the process and immediately delivered to the applicant. The documents taken from the printer, using special security measures for printing, will qualify as official documents.

An applicant who completes the application may inquire about the result of the application through the same kiosk later on. If the application is approved, the self-service device will print a ticket with a visa approval number and the applicant will be able to receive his visa from any office he chooses without waiting in any queues.
