Innova is developing a Smart Home Energy Management System to help consumers find their ideal tariff
Innova, Turkey’s leading IT Solutions provider, has participated in the Smart Energy Awareness System (SEAS) R&D project as the leader of the Turkish consortium.

Innova is developing a Smart Home Energy Management System to help consumers find their ideal tariff
SEAS is an EU research and development initiative aimed at developing smart electricity grid solutions of the future. As part of its involvement with the project, Innova will develop an application to enable consumers to identify the most economic tariffs for their needs, and to help them to store electricity during cheaper hours and sell energy back to the grid during more expensive periods.
Innova is continuing to work on Smart Grid systems that will form the foundation of future smart homes and smart cities. Innova had previously been involved in other EU projects and on this occasion was the leader of the Turkish consortium for the EU ITEA3 R&D programme’s SEAS initiative.
The cheapest tariff for consumers
Innova will develop a “Home Energy Management System” for the EU project. The application’s main aim is to ensure that the end user’s electricity needs are met with maximum efficiency and minimum cost. The system will provide consumers with easy access to their own energy consumption data online and through mobile devices. Most importantly, it will also make recommendations on how to reduce the cost of bills by helping customers to make informed decisions. Consumers will be able to compare tariffs from different providers and thus choose the most cost efficient tariff to suit their own needs.
While the project gives the end user the ability to optimise their energy consumption, it will also give energy suppliers access to more accurate and intuitive information that will improve their planning ability.
36 companies from seven countries collaborating to increase energy efficiency
36 companies from seven countries are involved in the SEAS scheme, each undertaking a particular function of the project. The platform that will be created as a result of the joint efforts of all the companies involved will help energy providers to offer their customers value-added services once the transition to the Smart Grid materialises. It will also improve suppliers’ ability to respond to emerging market demands with greater speed and effectiveness.
